BIANCHO Workshops

1st International Workshop on Bismuth-Containing Semiconductors

The first International Workshop on Bismuth-Containing Semiconductors was held from July 14-16, 2010 at the University of Michigan. The goal of the workshop was to bring together experimentalists and theoreticians who study Bi-containing materials for optoelectronics and thermoelectrics. The workshop was organized by The Michigan Center for Theoretical Physics and Materials World Network on III-V Bismide Materials for IR and Mid IR Semiconductors sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

2nd International Workshop on Bismuth-Containing Semiconductors

The second International Workshop on Bismuth-Containing Semiconductors takes place from July 18-20, 2011 at University of Surrey. The workshop is being organised by Prof. Stephen Sweeney (University of Surrey), and aims to build on the success of the first workshop, to establish a regular forum for exchange of information and latest results of this novel material system. All talks will be brief with plenty of time set aside for discussion. Specific topics include:

• Bismide growth and bismuth incorporation strategies

• Structural, electrical, and optical characterization

• Theoretical studies of bismide semiconductor properties and device physics

• Device fabrication and performance
